The Theatre Wing at Flying V is dedicated to inspiring artists and audiences to seek out new adventures. We are a unique blend of pop culture and indie theatre. The stories you’ll find here range from live action adaptations of Mario Brothers, intimate and compelling love stories told through mix tapes, to immersive puzzle based games that unlock memories of a crumbling home. With each new work, we create new and unexpected ways of storytelling to keep our artists and audiences excited about the world around them. We boldly and imaginatively reflect the world around us so we can dream more deeply about our future. By sharing with our community the things we’re excited about, we invite them to keep exploring what other adventures the world has to offer. You’ll find a home here whether you enjoy the traditional or the experimental, the live or the digital, the spoken or the danced. Be bold with us. Surprise yourself.

A Brave New Nerd…
Flying V’s R&D department lives in the overlap between nerd culture, technology, and performance. Whether through audiofiction, Nerdlesque, a community Discord server, or a living documents narrative, R&D expands traditional concepts of art, community, and expression into something both oddly familiar and daringly uncharted. Via this ongoing exploration of humanity, R&D posits that the digital experience is a growing relatable constant in said humanity, and a major source of modern mythology. Thus, the R&D department, whether through entertainment, education, or elevation, seeks to embrace all facets of our modern experience to tell the story of us, now.

Flying V Fights is where story-telling meets stage combat! We are inspired by the physical stories, conflicts, combat, and/or violence found in theatre, genre fiction, and pop culture. Flying V Fights will thrill you with exciting action and imaginative, creative physical story-telling that connects the relatable with the incredible. We welcome, learn, and explore multiple forms and disciplines of stage combat including SAFD practices, film stunt fighting, lucha libre, professional wrestling, modern martial arts, intimacy direction, and firearms safety. When you watch a Flying V Fight, we connect you with a universal, timeless experience spanning the gladiators of the Colosseum, the rapier wit of Mercutio, the arcade-action of Saturday morning cartoons, to the hard-hitting puroresu of the Tokyo Dome.
